What would you do if you lost your best friend? Many folks microchip their pets which is a great tool and is also required in many areas. However a microchip is limited by the person who finds your pet. They have to take your pet to the nearest veterinarian or animal shelter to have the chip scanned. Then someone has to reach out to you.
What about if they could scan it themselves? There is a company called ByteTag who has made just that. They make sturdy dog/cat tags that can be scanned with any smart phone. It's a QR code, but even better than that, once the tag is scanned you could be notified that is was scanned with the GPS coordinates of where. Dachshunds are notorious chewers, they can destroy almost any toy you give them! I like to get sturdy toys that are usually purchased for larger breed dogs. They last much longer.
